A message from our CEO
Welcome to this first Health Innovation East newsletter since the recent General Election. I hope you’ve all had a good summer, however you’ve been spending it. Some of our work in development was put on hold owing to the usual pre-election moratorium on new public sector contracts and the post-election pause while the new administration finds its feet. But we’ve been busy over the last few months and wanted to share some highlights with you.
As many of you will have seen, our annual Impact Review went live last month. Do take a look if you haven’t done so already. We’ve created some engaging content and great patient stories, including on our ongoing cardiovascular work, our work with industry (where we doubled the amount of external investment that we helped our industry partners to access) and our leading-edge work in health informatics.
The new government has already set out its key priorities relative to health and the NHS, highlighting a proposed shift from analogue to digital, an increased focus on prevention and an intention to move more care from hospital to community settings. These are familiar priorities, but our collective understanding of how science and technology can support these shifts should, now more than ever, be an enabler for making the changes.
We and our peer organisations in the Health Innovation Network have a national pipeline of adoption-ready innovations which align with the priorities that the new government has articulated for the NHS. As well as the general areas listed above, these priorities include improving primary care access, reducing elective waitlists and helping to get people back into work. With our market and implementation experience we can help to solve the NHS’s productivity challenge and, as our record makes clear, we can also help to grow our health and life sciences industries. Please get in touch if you would like to know more.
