Autumn Newsletter - November 2023 | |
|
Welcome to our very first newsletter as Health Innovation East!
Now that we have reach the end of the first month with our new name, I would like to thank all our colleagues and partners who have supported us through this transition. Our new name is a consequence of the new five-year licence that we and the other Health Innovation Networks (formerly AHSNs) have been awarded with effect from 1 October. We believe that it is a more memorable name and that it better reflects our work and our passion to take healthcare forward through innovation. If you have any questions about our name change, please read our FAQs.
We celebrated our re-launch with an event attended by 100 of our colleagues and partners, where geneticist and broadcaster Dr Adam Rutherford delivered a lecture on 'Science, Inequalities and Racism'. We welcomed the opportunity to deepen our relationships with the organisations we partner with and to create new connections as we move forward as Health Innovation East.
Continuing the celebration of this new period for our organisation, I would also like to welcome Richard Stubbs, CEO of Health Innovation Yorkshire and Humber, as the new Chair for the national Health Innovation Network, and Dr Phil Jennings, CEO of Health Innovation North West Coast, as our national Vice Chair. I look forward to working with both Richard and Phil as they lead and maintain the collective ambition of the network’s 15 local Health Innovation Networks.
The Eastern region is one with diverse healthcare needs, and tackling health inequalities remains high on our agenda. Within this newsletter, I enjoyed reading the blog from Michelle Wilkinson, advance nurse practitioner, who uses her own experience working with the homeless to explore how digital technologies can tackle health inequalities.
I also look forward to our upcoming Bridging the Gap: Net Zero event this month – details of which can be found within this newsletter. Innovation is essential in supporting the NHS in reaching its net zero ambitions, this event will bring together experts in the net zero field to offer insights into sustainability and innovation in healthcare.
I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter. We look forward to working with you to further our impact over the coming months.
